On July 2, 2012, my fellow Student Ambassador Symone Gosby and I attended Ghana’s National Day at Expo Hall. The opening remarks focused on Ghana’s history, and its future, stressing that Ghana was the center of the world with a great advantage in international business. The second part of the ceremony, the cultural performance, was the most enjoyable. There was a musical performance supplemented with dancers. The instruments used included traditional Ghanaian drums, keyboard and bass accompanied by vocal performances. While the singing was traditional, the dancing exhibited a more modern take. The dancers were full of energy, smiling and interacting with the crowd. Towards the end of the ceremony, the singers got the crowd to sing along and the dancers brought a couple members of the audience up onto the stage. Overall, the performance was very interactive, informative, and a lot of fun! Congratulations to Ghana on a successful National Day ceremony.
