USA Pavilion Expo 2012

“15 Days In As a USAP Volunteer”

By: Anne Clay, Student Ambassador, USA Pavilion

Already fifteen days have passed since we first began volunteering at the USA Pavilion in Yeosu, South Korea, for the 2012 World Expo and its theme “The Living Ocean and Coast”. Even though our time here seems to have flown by quite quickly because of our busy schedules, I feel as though I have been living and volunteering here for several years. My stay in Yeosu has turned into a truly unforgettable experience because of the wonderful bonds created with my peers.. As student ambassadors who volunteer diligently together every day to represent the face of the United States, we have formed incredible friendships in an unbelievably short period of time. Although we face many difficult trials volunteering at the USA Pavilion, and will definitely face more as the summer goes on, these trials create the close connections between the members of our student ambassador team. My greatest experiences here have not only come about because of my relationships with other student ambassadors, but they have especially resulted from the opportunities I have to mingle with Korean locals and people from a vast array of cultures from around the world. I truly look forward to the rest of my stay at the World Expo with an expectant and hopeful heart.
